Islah Man is a unique artiste. His humble up bringing makes him very easy to get along with and it is demonstrated through his unconditional love and support that he gets from his fans.
Neil Gittens “Islah Man” was born on May 27th 1975. His image, voice and style are all very different to the “norm” of the Soca World. He too is an off-spring of dancehall music and brought into the Soca arena because of his passion for music. Islah is known to look outrageous and be very energetic on stage; some say it reminds them of dancehall superstar Elephant Man. He brings unique theatrics to his performance that crowds seem to love. Islah’s music brings out the beast in him and enormous energy from his fans which he feeds on.
A fairly new comer to the Soca world with only 3 years of recording Soca music, however he has recently signed with SLU Records in 2008 which will provide him with the resources to take his career to the next level. Already he placed in all the competitions he entered and was a close second in the Caribbean Soca Monarch and Road March competitions behind Soca’s new phenomenon Ricky T. whom is also signed to SLU Records. Ricky T. just edged him out by a few points but he was definitely one of the crowds’ favourite performers for St. Lucia’s 2008 carnival season. His music is being heard worldwide and has broken its way into a few Soca Charts. Islah Man will be opening for Ricky T. on a few shows outside of St. Lucia.
Expect more great music from Islah Man and keep looking out for when he will be coming to your city or town, which will be pretty soon.
